Bone Contusion
Treatment
The best treatment for a bone contusion is rest and avoiding repetitive weight bearing or excessive loads. Pain medications may be used to reduce any symptoms of pain. The use of ice may also be helpful in reducing any inflammation as well as having an analgesic effect.
Prevention
Due to the mechanism of injury involved with a bone contusion, the only way to prevent a bone contusion is to limit participation in activities where physical contact or an impact trauma could occur.
